The Montreal Convention can govern proven losses from delay in international carriage. It is not a fixed payment for every three-hour delay. The passenger must document the loss and the link to the disruption, while the carrier's defenses and liability limits also matter.
What the SDR limit means
The revised passenger-delay liability limit of 6,303 SDR is a conditional ceiling, not a minimum or expected payout. The SDR conversion rate can change, and a different legal regime may affect the claim.
Evidence and claim
Keep the original itinerary, actual travel times, carrier explanation, replacement bookings and itemized receipts. Ask the carrier to state how it assessed causation, reasonable measures and the amount claimed. Insurance payments for the same documented cost should be recorded separately.
