Australia does not have one nationwide EU-style fixed payment table for every flight delay. The Australian Consumer Law, the airline's terms and the particular reason for the disruption can affect refunds, replacement services and recoverable costs.
Check the contract and the loss
Identify whether the airline canceled the service, changed it materially or merely delayed it. Save the ticket conditions, original and replacement schedules, the carrier's explanation and receipts. Separately booked hotels and package travel contracts may have different cancellation terms.
Ask the right party
Contact the airline or ticket seller about the flight and the accommodation provider or package seller about other travel services. The ACCC's travel delay and cancellation guidance provides the consumer-law starting point.
